1. ID, insurance card, and money
These seem like obvious things, but they’re some of the most important! They’ll probably ask for your ID and insurance card when you get there, and you may need cash or cards to pay for certain things like your baby’s social security card.
2. Fan
A fan like this one (Amazon) is great because you can attach it to the hospital bed. These are especially great while in labor but are also great later on to use on the stroller for baby.
3. Robe
I loved wearing my robe around the hospital room. It was easy to wrap around any pajamas or the hospital gown for extra coverage but was also very breastfeeding friendly. Here is a link (Amazon) to the robe I bought.
4. Nursing bras
If you’re going to try to breastfeed or pump, a nursing bra is a must! The last thing you want to be doing is fighting around with your bra when the lactation consultant comes in to help you. This is my favorite pumping bra that’s also very affordable!
5. Baby outfits
You really don’t need too many outfits for baby as the hospital will have a few for you, but it’s good to take an outfit for photos and an outfit to go home in. We chose a couple simple onesies to pack along with a sweater with baby’s name on it.
6. Baby blanket
We brought a blanket to put in the bassinet for the background of our photos. This made it more of a neutral background rather than the hospital blanket.
7. Folder for papers
I bought an expanding file folder which was super helpful to put paperwork in. Everyone that comes in the room seems to give you information about something, so it was great to have somewhere to put this. We also threw in things like hospital bracelets and visitor stickers for keepsakes.
