If you’re using a wearable breast pump and wondering how to actually increase your milk supply with it, you’re not alone. While wearable pumps offer incredible freedom for busy moms, knowing how to use them effectively can make all the difference in protecting and maximizing your milk production. See below my top tips to maximizing your supply with the Eufy wearable pumps!
Placement of the pump
Don’t just slap your pump on. You want to “latch” your pump like you would a baby. Bring it up from the bottom and latch it onto the nipple. It may not be comfortable at first, but it shouldn’t hurt. If something hurts while you’re pumping, you may want to check the placement or the flange size.
Correct flange size
I would recommend getting fitted for this by a lactation consultant, so you know you’re doing it correctly. There are also size charts you can buy on Amazon like this one from Momcozy. If you’re trying to up your supply, accurate flange size is really important. I’ve also heard great things about the Legendary Milk flange inserts. I did try them and really liked them but didn’t like how they fit in my bag when I went to work, so I prefer the small flanges that come with the Eufy pump.
Update pump parts
Updating pump parts is really important as well. If it starts to take me longer to pump or they’re making a weird noise, I know it’s time for new parts. I usually just replace the valves and diaphragms, and this makes a huge difference!
App Settings
I would recommend downloading the Eufy Baby app that will connect to your pumps via bluetooth. You can then select different rhythms for your pumps and find one that helps you maximize your output. You can even custom make a rhythm. I use a setting that stimulates for the first couple minutes then is on expression mode. After 15 minutes, it will go back to stimulation mode for a couple minutes and then back to expression mode.
When you’re on stimulation mode, you should have the suction fast and when on expression mode you should have the suction slow, so it can really draw out the milk.
